First World War Women

Their war, their lives, their stories

They Shoot Spies!

Women on both sides played their part as spies.  Sometimes the information they provided cost lives and sometimes, had the male generals listened, their information could have saved lives. And then there was the female spy who was decorated by both sides in the conflict for her bravery.  Strange, but true.

The talk was given to a Saturday lunchtime gathering of friends and lasts about an hour.

The photo shows 'Fraulein Doktor' - Elisabeth Shragmuller - possibly Germay's most successful spymaster.
