Many women were killed in their war work. Some of their names can be found on panels in York Minster. Not all are shown there as the government of the day 'hushed' up numerous munitions factory explosions.
American nurse Helen Fairchild herself
died from gas poisoning as a result
of treating gassed soldiers.
